Statistical Machine Translation: From Research to Commercial Products

Only three years ago, the best machine translation systems were built by manually encoding complex translation dictionaries and rules. Today, the highest quality outputs are produced by commercial systems that use statistical natural language processing techniques. In this talk, I will discuss research challenges and solutions that fueled this change.
