CardioViz v1.0 README 6-May-2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * Faster processors and more memory are preferable; minimum screen resolution size is 1024x768. * CardioViz was created and tested on machines running at 900MHz-1.5GHz, 256MB-512MB RAM, although it should run decently well at lesser configurations also. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CardioViz is targeted at Brown University's BI080 students, but the design and model is extensible for use at other schools and institutions. It is intended to clarify and help students visualize the cardiovascular system. Users are encouraged to experiment with changing the variables and observing the corresponding changes to the animation and graph, all of which should happen in real-time. Many factors are modeled, including blood flow, heart contractility, and heart valve pumping. A scenario-framework has also been implemented. Currently, users can choose from 3 scenarios: exercise, heart attack, and blood loss. Each scenario has playback controls for advancing between stages. The program also includes a complete built-in tutorial and help system. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * You may directly run the program by opening the executable file CardioViz.exe. * A web version is currently also available at www.cs.brown.edu/~nyang/project/cardioviz/cardioviz.htm The web version requires the Macromedia Shockwave player (available for free from www.macromedia.com under products). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- MISCELLANEOUS ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * In the web version, Quit will bring you to the About screen and disable the program. To fully exit, press Back on your web browser. To reload the program, refresh the web page. * In the stand-alone version, you can alternatively Quit by pressing ESC. * The current project website is located at www.cs.brown.edu/~nyang/project/index.htm This address may or may not change in the future. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We hope you enjoy the program!
