Blessed Sacraments School

Blessed Sacraments is a private, traditional kindergarten through eighth grade (K-8) school which is affiliated with the Roman Catholic church. The educational goals of the school include high school and college preparation. Accomplishment of these goals is approached from a pedagogical point of view using a traditional curriculum which emphasizes subjects such as mathematics, English, social studies, history, and science. Classes are taught by single teachers. The entire school consists of approximately 300 students, and average classroom size is approximately 20-25 students.

Despite its religious affiliation and non-public classification, Blessed Sacraments is institutionally reminiscient of most relatively affluent public elementary and middle schools. Neither religious beliefs nor history are explicitly taught in classes at the school. However, several distinct but superficial differences should be highlighted. First, students dress in uniform consisting of slacks and ties for young males and blouses and skirts for young ladies. Second, religion manifests itself mostly through symbols such as crucifixes and statues of Mary, which are located throughout the building. Finally, projects with a focus on Christian morals, such as those based around community service may be conducted in the school.

Blessed Sacraments School is located off Atwells Avenue, in Providence, Rhode Island.
