April 3: Making a Timeline

Theme of the meeting: time is growing short!! We're going to have the first Network module done by Thursday to present to the class. By April 17th, we want to finish the e-mail and world wide web modules. By April 24th, we'll do the newsgroup and ISP modules. By April 30, we'll debug if necessary, and create the glossary and the quiz. By May 5, the final presentations, we'll have done one round of testing and revised as necessary from the results of those usability tests.

We set deadlines for the completion of the various aspects of the network module, and will meet again on Wednesday to demo that and make final preparations. We'll also discuss the specific deadlines of the next module at that time.

The one thing that is troubling us most at this point is how to really integrate interactivity into the modules. We have ideas for activities and exercises (though we may not be able to do all of them), but we are concerned with being able to put them in proper context. We do not want to have interactive exercises simply for the sake of including interactivity! Instead, they should further our educational goals and interest the students. Clearly, the students can use the Internet without ever knowing how it works. Our job is to grab their interest so that they WANT to know how it works, then provide them with that information. A tall order.
