March 13: Graphic Ideas

We had a brief to discuss ideas for graphics. We are still interested in the idea of showing different traceroutes to the same site. Also, we were asked to (and think it would be cool to) include common web error messages and an explanation of what they mean. In terms of interactivity, we want the email sent by the user to be converted to binary, break into packets, and fly through wires. Users will have the opportunity to route packets, with some servers being down so that the user will have to reroute. These are just a few ideas...we will discuss more on Sunday. We're also starting to realize how important it is for the graphics people to communicate with the writer. In order to draw realistic packet drawings, we need to know exactly how they work. So, we'll brainstorm more on Sunday, and we'll also spend lots of time in the next week or so learning more about what HyperStudio is capable of so we can tailor our plans and expectations accordingly.
