INTENDED AUDIENCE

Enviro PI was designed for Rob Brown's ninth grade Environmental Science at Wheeler School. Students can work either individually or in teams. No advance knowledge of the issues is required, and the program provides detailed review of biological and mechanical issues of an oil spill. As the game progresses, students solve environmental problems by researching alternative solutions.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS

The goal of Enviro PI is to build students' environmental knowledge and research skills in the context of a game. The student is presented with an upcoming decision, such as how to contain the oil slick. The student then researches the issue, by "surfing the web," reading a "newspaper," and even talking to seals!

NOTES

Enviro PI is a long and somewhat complex game. It incorporates a wide range of information. It may be overly complex for first-time computer users, but it does offer some great tutorials.
