INTENDED AUDIENCE

Search Wizard was developed to encourage familiarity with electronic reference materials at Feinstein High School. The students are expected to be familiar with the Macintosh Operating System, but no further computer skills are required. The program is intended for one-time use in a lab setting.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS

The program is designed in a game format. The student, by answering questions, closes in on an international art thief. To answer these questions, the student must perform various types of searches on CD ROMs. "Search Tool Eddie" assists the student, offering detailed and adaptive instructions on search techniques. In completing the hunt for the art thief successfully, the student becomes both comfortable and adept with CD ROMs.

NOTES

The program is useless without the appropriate CD ROMs. To run it, you will need Grolier's Encylopedia, Time Magazine, and the Microsoft Art Gallery.
