Reaction for: Old Dogs, New Tricks by Adam
This paper didn't seem particularly informative to me. The only piece of
information which I found pertinent is the initial resistance of
traditional, procedural programmers to OO concepts. In an introductory
class focussed on OOP, a previous experience with procedural programming
could act as more of hinderance than as an aid.
Perhaps there could be more attention paid to making the conversion easier
for those students. But as more high schools switch to c++ due to the
shift of the AP exam from pascal to c++, this will cease to be an issue.
