Reaction for: Recommended Curriculum for CS1 by Matt C

I have very little to say about this article. It gives the suggestions for how a CS1 type course should be run. The only difference between this course and an Object-Oriented based course is the paradigm taught. Design, debugging, style, etc. are still emphasized. The only thing different is the language taught.

This is somewhat of a different view in my opinion than the first article, which implied that the intro course should be sort of all encompassing. In Brown's case, this article describes CS15, while the first article may be more like the upcoming CS17. I think the basis of the last article is sound, and teaching it is not too difficult. However we shall see soon whether students get more out of dealing with the all-encompassing approach in the next few years.
