About

My name is Jeroen Chua, and I'm a fifth year PhD student, working with Pedro Felzenszwalb at Brown University. Prior to coming to Brown, I completed my Master's in ECE at the University of Toronto under Brendan Frey.

I'm in interested machine learning (Bayesian deep learning, Bayesian modeling/inference, hierarchical models, probabilistic grammars) and computer vision (Object detection/localization/tracking, scene understanding, virtual and augmented reality).

Recent work

Phd Thesis: My PhD has been on one large project- to create a unified framework for scene understanding.

Thesis PDF will be up some time in September, after revisions (currently under thesis committee review). If you'd like to see the draft of my thesis, email me!

Other publications: I'm doing the un-stapled PhD and will be chopping up my PhD thesis into several publications. I'll put an arxiv link to them after submission. The core of the work will be submitted to JMLR (in preparation; to be submitted in September).

A framework for message-passing schemes on a factor graph: Python code for message-passing schemes (Sum-product/max-sum Loopy Belief Propagation, Tree Re-weighted Belief Propagation, Convergent Belief Propagation). Coming soon; currently being documented. If you'd like early access to the code, email me!
