I have served in business analyst and report writing roles for 15 years. During that time I have been part of the successful implementation for 3 ERP software packages and dozens of smaller projects, from reports designed to run once a month to on-line work-flow software that ensures 2000 graduate students receive the correct stipend and that the money can be tracked back to the proper grants. I enjoy learning new things, solving difficult puzzles and excel at communicating between technical and non-technical people.
In the Fall of 2011 I decided to try my hand at a computer science degree and took two introductory CS courses here at Brown. Then in the Fall of 2012 I dove in and took Introduction to Computer Graphics for graduate credit, which requires doing extra credit on every project. After succeeding at that I entered the ScM program and have been working my way through the graphics, HCI and visualization courses. I've placed some projects I find most interesting on the project page. Having used and implemented some mediocre software over the years I am interested in Human-Computer Interaction and I think my background in developing and using manufacturing metrics and writing reports to support business processes gives me an unique perspective on visualizing and presenting data. I would embrace the opportunity to continue exploring and working in one of those areas.
