Downloading Desert Binaries

In the past we have only distributed sources for our various environments and then provided help in getting the Makefiles, etc. to work.  Because Desert is a bit more complex (i.e. system dependencies), we are going to try something new and put out a binary distribution.

In order to install the Desert environment on your machine you will have to have the following installed:

• FrameMaker 5.X (5.1 preferred - 5.0 yields some ignorable error messages)

The system requirements are:

Sun/Solaris:

• Solaris 2.4 or 2.5 (2.5 preferred; 2.4 will work for now)
• 100M+ of disk space (75M when all is said and done, more during the install)
• 48M of memory (FrameMaker needs lots of memory)
• (Optional) TGS OpenInventor/OpenGL licenses
• (Optional) Licenses for Visu, BuilderXcessory, Paradigm+, Cadre's OMT tools
• FrameMaker 5.X

Digital Alpha (not yet available):

• Digital Unix 4.0
• Same as above

SGI (not yet available)

• IRIX 5.3 or better
• Same as above

Download Solaris Binarys (23+ Meg so be patient)
