These pages contain a series of Java applets designed to illustrate how human photoreceptor cones are sensitive to different wavelenghts of light, and how people with less than three types of cones can confuse different wavelengths.

The first applet simulates normal, trichromatic vision.

The second applet simulates Protanopia, a form of colorblindness caused by a lack of L cones.

The third applet simulates Deuteranopia, a form of colorblindness caused by a lack of M cones.

The fourth applet simulates Tritanopia, a form of colorblindness caused by a lack of S cones.

The fifth applet simulates monochromatic vision.
