By Monday 2/26 at 5pm, post link to a project proposal document to the discussion forum. You can use Google Docs or bitbucket to host a latex repository with a link to a pdf. Before proposing your project, you should have done smoke tests with whatever equipment you plan to use. Don’t propose a quad project if you haven’t flown the quad. Don’t propose to use BurlapCraft if you haven’t created your own dungeon. etc. We will devote two classes to project proposal presentations: 2/27 and 3/1.

I’m looking for about two pages of text with the following explicitly labeled sections. This document will be morphed into the document for the midterm checkpoint and final project report.

Your proposal should contain the following elements.

  • Project title
  • Names of team members
  • What are you trying to do? Articulate your objectives using absolutely no jargon.
  • How is it done today, and what are the limits of current practice? This section should include citations to related work.
  • What’s new in your approach and why do you think it will be successful?
  • Who cares? If you’re successful, what difference will it make? What are the risks and the payoffs?
  • How long will it take? What are the midterm and final “exams” to check for success? Be as concrete as possible about these checkpoints.
