Management Plans The management plan and organization structure of the Center are simple and direct. The Center is led by the Director, who consults the Policy Committee for major policy decisions. In particular, the Policy Committee (which is made up of Center Principal Investigators) either approves or rejects the annual budget. The Director, the Policy Committee, and other Center researchers (such as other faculty and site coordinators) meet frequently in person, and via conference calls and televideo. Each Co-Principal Investigator is responsible for the conduct of his on-site specific research and has budget authority of his allocated funds. An External Advisory Group counsels the Center as to the necessity, desirability, and feasibility of the ongoing reported research projects, as well as reports to the Center participants about new key manufacturing and design technologies. The External Advisory Group consists of representatives from selected national research laboratories, corporations, and academic institutions and will meet at least once a year.
